Since the last time you heard from me, I have been able to hold my head up and get some things done. Exercise things. I figured it was time I share just a little something with you to get rid of seeing that awful negative post as the first one everyone see’s on the blog everytime.
I haven’t really gotten much motivation back for running. I have been going only about once a week for a couple of miles. For one, the heat index on Sunday was 120*. Seriously?! Who can run in that crap? Treadmills are boring, and I haven’t been to the gym in weeks, so it wasn’t an option.
So what do I do? I get on my floor and do a 60 second plank daily. Lots of ab work for ALL abdominals. Squats, lunges, leg lifts of all kinds, you name it. Basically all I’m missing is cardio. But hey, I atleast did enough work that I had the guts to get in a SWIMSUIT on Saturday! I finally said YES to the beach!!

We loaded up the trunk and got to the beach about 10:00AM. It was perfect weather, and not too crowded yet since we got there early. Well, by 11:00AM, this little hot spot was full.
I even took a raft and hung out with the boys in the water for a while. I soaked up the sun in the water and on the beach and jammed out to some good tunes with my iPod Shuffle clipped to my swimsuit (so glad I figured this out). We were there until just after 3:00PM. What did that do? Oh, just give me my tan back, and a little bit of sunburn that I JUST got over YESTERDAY. By 2:30 I could feel my calves singeing in the sunlight. They were baking. Luckily, the guys came in for some shade and liquids and I noticed they were toasted. Thank goodness we all decided it was best that we get home out of the hateful sun.
Oh well, I’ll be more prepared with better sunscreen applications and a good coat of…TAN for next time. Already more than I had last weekend.

So more of that good news? Besides the fact that I’ve been consistantly doing SOMETHING exercise wise……. I am officially part of the FULL-TIME staff at the hospital I’ve been working at! Before, I was just PRN (work when extra help is needed). When I was hired in April, it was under the agreement I would get full-time hours at PRN pay. I got no benefits, and no leave time. NOW I have both!! Another plus? Most PRN pay is significantly more than Full-time pay. Mine? Only dropping by .30!!… 30 CENTS!
I am so so unbelievably happy that God answered my prayers and made it all so easy and painless with this position transfer! Truly a BLESSING.
Do you have any good news to share?!
